Our commitment
MCL Medicare is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, larger text, or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we’ve built into the site
- Semantic HTML and clear heading structure on every page.
- Keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields.
- Color contrast that meets WCAG AA targets for body text and interactive elements.
- A “Larger” text-size preference that increases base font size site-wide.
- Respect for the operating system’s reduced motion preference, which dampens animations and transitions.
- Descriptive alt text on imagery that carries meaning.
Standards and assistive technology we test against
We test the site in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, and check core flows with VoiceOver (macOS, iOS) and NVDA (Windows). We also use automated tools such as axe and Lighthouse as part of routine reviews.
Known limitations
The site is new, and we are continuing to audit it. Some areas are still in progress:
- A future patient portal will be audited separately before it is connected to this site.
- Some third-party content we may embed (for example, embedded video) may not meet our standards. We will note this in context where it appears.

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We review this site on a recurring schedule and update this statement as we make improvements or learn about new issues.
